Quick answer: charging time in hours is roughly the capacity you need to put back divided by the charge current, plus a few minutes of slow top-off at the end. A flat 300mAh whoop pack on a 0.5A port takes about 40 minutes. 1C, meaning amps equal to the capacity in Ah (0.3A for a 300mAh pack), is the safe default. Plan your charger below.

How charging time works
A charger pushes a constant current until the pack nears full, then holds voltage and tapers the current for the last few percent. That gives minutes ≈ mAh to refill ÷ (amps × 1,000) × 60 + about 8 minutes of taper. The charge rate in C is current divided by capacity: 0.3A into a 300mAh pack is 1C. LiHV packs, which charge to 4.35V, follow the same timing but need a charger set to HV mode.
| Pack | 1C current | Flat to full at 1C |
|---|---|---|
| 300mAh 1S | 0.3A | about 1 hour |
| 450mAh 1S | 0.45A | about 1 hour |
| 300mAh at 0.5A (1.7C) | 0.5A | about 40 min |
| 1,300mAh 6S (5-inch) | 1.3A | about 1 hour |
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to charge a 1S LiPo?
About 40 minutes to an hour for a flat 300mAh pack. At 1C (0.3A) it takes roughly an hour; at 0.5A, about 40 minutes. Packs starting at storage voltage need about half that.
What is a safe charge rate for a LiPo battery?
1C is the safe default: charge current in amps equal to the capacity in amp-hours, so 0.3A for a 300mAh pack. Charge faster only if the pack label lists a higher charge rating, and always in a LiPo safe bag.
How many whoop batteries do I need to fly nonstop?
Enough that you are still flying when the charger finishes a round. With a 6-port charger at 0.5A and 3.5-minute flights, that is about 18 packs. Most pilots carry 6 to 8 and take short breaks instead.
Can I charge whoop batteries from a power bank?
Yes. Most USB-C whoop chargers run from a power bank, which is how people charge between flights away from an outlet. A 6-port charger at 0.5A draws roughly 15W, so a 10,000mAh bank refills about 25 to 30 packs.
